Byron Ben Siegel

May 29, 1928 – July 6, 2004

 

BYRON BEN SIEGEL, age 76 years, of Prattville Road, Pittsford, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh.

 

He was born May 29, 1928 in Hudson, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Minnie (Smith) Siegel. He was a lifelong resident of Wright Township, Hillsdale County, Michigan and wintered at Lake Panasoffkee, Florida the past 11 years. He attended Pittsford Schools and married Lucille M. Bernath on August 16, 1952 in Morenci. She survives.

 

Ben was a retired farmer and a member of the Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Hudson. Additionally he was described as an antique farm toy collector, antique tractor collector and a long-time storyteller.

 

Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters, Mary Ann (Tim) Frees of Hudson and Joyce (Jay) Sprunger of Hudson; 5 grandchildren, Brock Sprunger, Sara Frees, Holly (Darick) Clark, Rich Frees and Nick Frees; by 2 great-grandsons, Benjamin and Cody Sprunger; 2 brothers, Joe (Ruth) Siegel of Pittsford and Todd Siegel of Toledo.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joy June Siegel and by 2 brothers, Jesse and Jack Siegel.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 9, 2004 in the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. Warren Paulson officiating. Interment will be made in the Lickley’s Corners Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday in the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson.

 

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee or to the National Kidney Foundation.
