Marguerite Lucille Witt, age 90, formerly of Waldron passed away, Monday, August 23, 2004, in Punta Gorda, Florida, after several years of declining health. She was born June 24, 1914, in Ransom Twp., Michigan to Emery and Maud (Kelley) Greenhoe. She married Joe Witt on June 19, 1937, and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1979.

Surviving Marguerite are one daughter, Becky Iaquinta of Punta Gorda, Florida; two granddaughters, Susie McCarty of Lapeer, Michigan and Kelley Baumgartner of Zionsville, Indiana; one grandson Reid Witt of Fayette, Ohio; one sister in-law, Grace Sly of Fayette, Ohio; six great grandchildren, two nephews and one niece. Her parents, husband, and one son, Michael on August 29, 1994, preceded her in death.

Marguerite lived nearly her entire life in the Waldron area in the family home built on land her ancestors owned in Ransom Township. She was a life-long member of Betzer Church and had been a member of the Betzer Ladies Club and Waldron Library Club for many years. For the past 35 years she had split her time between the family farm on Gilbert Road and her winter home in Bradenton, Florida.

Marguerite was a graduate of Hillsdale College and taught for many years in the Waldron Public Schools prior to retiring in the mid 1960's. Her teaching specialties were English and Latin she also served as Librarian of the High School.

Funeral services for Marguerite Witt will be Saturday, August 28, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Betzer Community Church with Pastor Kim Repp officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Waldron, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Waldron Public Library. She was especially proud that Waldron had acquired a library and that it has become such an important and well-used entity within the community.
