Wayne A. Gilpin, age 87, of Osseo, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004, at The Laurel's of Coldwater. He was born September 24, 1916 in Waldron, Michigan to Homer & Mabel (Hephner) Gilpin.

Wayne was a farmer and retired from Hayes Albion in West Unity, Ohio. A graduate of Waldron High School in 1937. He was also a member of Bits & Harness and Leather Stretchers pony clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta "Bert" (Dilworth) Gilpin of Osseo; a son, Ronald (Judy) Gilpin of Osseo; 3 grandchildren, Scott of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Brian (Pat) Gilpin of Hudson and Kelli (Kenneth Jr.) Schmidt of Osseo; 4 step grandchildren, Cathy (Bruce) Alling of Horton, Laura (Reggie) Waldfogel of Waldron, Bryan (Jessica) Stenger of North Adams and Nichole (Tony) Johnson of Redford; 7 great grandchildren, Zachary, Lauren, Kala, Paige, Chelsea, Amber and Samantha; 13 step great grandchildren, Keith, Amanda, Belinda, Eric, Reggie II, Tiffany, Jessica, Allison, Simone, Sophia, Devon, Izabelle and Jarrett.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister and a step grandson.

Funeral services for Wayne Gilpin will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
