Phyllis Shumate, age 53, of
Waldron, Michigan passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005, at home. She was born
November 9, 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida to Joseph Lewis and Mary (Nelson)
Mormino Sr. She married Crawford Shumate on October 31, 1969 in Adrian,
Michigan and he survives.
She graduated from Hillsdale High School and was a member of the Eagles in
Hillsdale. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, enjoyed singing
karaoke, playing pool and bingo, raising animals and showing them at the fair.
Surviving Phyllis besides her husband, Crawford, of Waldron and her mother,
Mary Mormino, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida are one daughter, Donna Shumate
and Tony Skursky of Waldron; three sons, Crawford (Samantha) Mormino of Bryan,
Ohio, Phillip Shumate of Prattville and Mark Shumate of Waldron; two sisters,
Pauline Willett of Jacksonville Beach and Genevieve (Gabriel) Scarnato of Palm
Coast, Florida; one brother, Joseph Lewis Mormino Jr. of Jacksonville Beach;
ten grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Her father, one
granddaughter, Casie Lee Skursky, father- in-law and mother-in-law, George and
Donna Jean Shumate, preceded her in death.
Graveside services for Phyllis Shumate will be Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at 2:00
p.m. at Prattville Cemetery with Pastor Tom Ball officiating. Visitation will
be Tuesday, May 3, 2005 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in
Waldron.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial
contributions to Hospice of Hillsdale County or to the family.
