Mary Eloise Nevins, age 73, of
Allen went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2007, at the University
of Michigan Hospital following a recent illness. She was born May 21, 1934 in
Waldron, Michigan to Roy & Evelyn (Hopkins) Bender. She graduated from
Eaton Rapids High School in 1952.
On January 17, 1953 she married Ray A. Nevins. They lived mostly in Jackson and
Hillsdale counties, raising three children on an Addison farm. Mary retired as
a secretary for Professional Hearing Services in 1996. She also had worked at
Jacobson's, Addison Products and Alson's Corporation. Mary found a church home wherever
she moved and most recently attended the Osseo United Methodist Church. No one
left her home hungry or wanting for a hug or kind word. Her family was her
life.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Debra Nevins of Hillsdale and Sandra
(Steven) Hepker of Hudson; a son, Jeffrey Nevins of Hillsdale; nine
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (James) Bowman of
Hudson and Karen (John) Voight of Baldwin, and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, three brothers, Richard, Gary and Raymond; and a sister, Audrey,
preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Mary Nevins will be Monday, December 31, 2007, at 2:00
p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Donald Lee
officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville. The
family will receive friends for visitation Sunday from 2-5 p.m., at the funeral
home.
