Robert Mason, 86, of Cardinal Drive, Archbold, Ohio, died May 9, 2007, at
Fairlawn Haven in Archbold.
He was born April 19, 1921, in Waldron, Mich., the son of Robert and Famie
(Coman) Mason. He married Donna (Hephner) Williams Dec. 12, 1967, in Jackson,
Mich., and she survives.
Robert was formerly from Waldron where he served as mayor for nine years,
postmaster for 37 years, and was a member of the Waldron Church of Christ. He
served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II and two years in the
Korean War. He retired from the Navy Dec. 16, 1981. He was a member of the
Elks, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, Chief Petty Officers Association,
Fleet Reserve, and the National League of Postmasters.
Besides his wife, Robert is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Ann Mason of
Jackson; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Sue (and Joe) Kizer of Waldron; a stepson,
Robert Lee (and Sharon) Williams of Adrian; three grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a
sister, Shirley (and Jim) Schmucker of Waldron; and two brothers, Wendell (and
Joan) Mason of Traverse City and John “Jack” (and LaDonna) Mason of Jackson.
His parents, and a sister, Helen Williams, preceded Robert in death.
Following Robert's request, there will be no funeral or visitation. He will
be buried in Waldron Cemetery. Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in
Morenci handled arrangements.
